AvNav Navigation is designed primarily for navigating sailboats using advanced Electronic Raster Charts, which can conveniently be stored on an SD card. This tool adeptly integrates with both internal and external GPS devices via multiple connectivity options such as TCP, Bluetooth, or USB-serial adapters, providing flexibility depending on your available equipment. It supports the NMEA0183 protocol, allowing it to function seamlessly as a multiplexer, capable of both receiving and transmitting NMEA data to connected devices.

One of the standout features of this application is its capability to include an AIS display, contingent upon compatibility with your external devices. This enhancement improves maritime safety by allowing the tracking of nearby marine traffic in real-time. Furthermore, users can effortlessly create, modify, and manage waypoints and routes directly within it. All tracks can be stored in the universal gpx format on your SD card, facilitating easy sharing and import/export of navigational data.

Another beneficial feature is the Master-Slave mode which enables it to display navigation data on other devices connected within the same network, amplifying its utility across multiple platforms. Additionally, the background mode ensures that NMEA data continues to be distributed to other applications, maximizing its utility without requiring constant active management.

The platform is compatible with Android devices running KitKat (4.4) or higher, ensuring accessibility for users with varying versions of Android devices. The app takes the foundation from a Raspberry Pi-based solution, optimized for mobile use, enhancing its reliability and user-friendliness in maritime navigation.
